Risk Management
As part of WASA's commitment to provide a safe and rewarding environment for our players, WASA requires criminal background checks for the league's coaches and coordinators. The cost of the background check is covered by WASA and the results provided to WASA remain completely confidential.
Here is how it works for WASA coaches:
- During the registration process, volunteer to be a head coach or an assistant coach of your child's team.
- If your league's coordinator selects you to be a coach, you will receive an email from Sterling Volunteers, WASA' background check provider. This email will contain a link that takes you to Sterling Volunteers website.
- Click on the link and complete the background check form. This takes less than 10 minutes, but does require that you create an account on the Sterling Volunteers website. Use your legal name when filling out the background check information.
- Within a few days, you will be notified by Sterling Volunteers of your background check status (pass or fail). WASA also gets this pass/fail information.
Read WASA's background check policy for more information.
